Medicine Celebrates Milestone
Anniversaries
Edward D. Miller, the Frances Watt Baker, M.D., and
Lenox D. Baker, M.D., Dean of the Medical Faculty and CEO
of Johns Hopkins Medicine, opened the 29th annual staff
reception on June 12 for School of Medicine staff
celebrating five, 10 or 15 years of service by stressing
the importance of collaboration. He emphasized the
collective role that the more than 600 invitees play on a
daily basis in, as he stated, "producing tomorrow's doctors
and cures while delivering the best and most compassionate
care" and urged staff to be "proud of the contribution you
have made in defining Hopkins as it exists today."
Recognized with awards and treated to hors d'oeuvres
in the Turner Concourse were 105 staff members celebrating
15 years of service, 107 staff members celebrating 10 years
and 369 staff members celebrating five years.
A rainbow disco mirror ball and dance tunes from the
'70s and '80s provided the backdrop to the event, which was
enjoyed briefly by attendees who, true to their commitment,
listened to Miller's remarks, received their awards and
promptly returned to work.
