For The Record:
Libowitz Named
Director Of News
And Information

Steve Libowitz has been named director of News and Information at the university's Homewood campus. He succeeds Dennis O'Shea, who has been promoted to executive director of Communications and Public Affairs for the university.

For the past two and a half years Libowitz has been editor of The Gazette, the university's official newspaper for faculty and staff. He will continue in that role for the foreseeable future. Previously, he was for four years senior media relations representative at Homewood, serving as spokesman for the humanities and social sciences.

Prior to coming to the university, Libowitz was associate director of public affairs at what is now the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and has managed information efforts for other corporate and nonprofit organizations. He also worked for 10 years as a television writer and producer for educational and corporate clients, including PBS.

Libowitz, who earned a master's degree in mass communication from Towson State University in 1991, is an adjunct faculty member in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences Part-time Graduate Program in Writing and at Towson State.

He lives in Rodgers Forge with his wife, the former Lisa Hooker, and their three daughters.
