September 28, 2001 To all of the Hopkins community, Over the last two weeks, tensions all across the country have risen to a breaking point, with the threat of more terrorism, war, and the unknown. Religious and cultural differences seem to be at the root of so many of the issues we are all having to face in light of this tragedy. Hate crimes pose a new and terrifying threat to Arab/Arab-Americans and Muslims, not only abroad but here in America, on the Hopkins campus. As a step toward overcoming the fear and misunderstanding that fuel many of these tensions, I and the members of S.E.E.D. would like to invite you, your friends, colleagues, and classmates to join us for a Speak Out Against Hatred on October 9, 2001, in the Glass Pavilion at Homewood at 7 p.m. Our hope is that through the sharing of opinions and experiences we as a community can work through the grief, fear, and anger that touches us all. I look forward to seeing you all on October the 9th.
With Peace and Warmest Regards,
