Concerto Competition Winner to Perform at Hopkins

This young artist, winner of the 1999-2000 Yale Gordon Concerto Competition at the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, will perform in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Frederic Chopin's death with a program of Chopin favorites including the famous "Funeral March" Sonata in b flat minor, opus 35; the Polonaise- fantasie in A flat major, opus 61; and the Ballade No. 1 in g minor, opus 23.

At the age of 10, Inna Faliks came to the United States from Odessa, Ukraine, and that same year gave her first solo recital in Rome. In addition to the prestigious Gordon Competition win, she has won the Illinois Young Performers, the National MTNA Yamaha, the Chicago and New York Chopin competitions and she has appeared with orchestras around the country. In May 1999, she received her bachelor of music degree in piano performance and is presently a student of Ann Schein as a master's degree candidate at the Peabody Conservatory.

This performance is part of the Wednesday Noon Series presented by the Johns Hopkins Office of Special Events and is co-sponsored with the Peggy and Yale Gordon Trust. Admission is free. For information, call the Office of Special Events at 410-516-7157.
