Mame Warren, author of the new book, Johns Hopkins: Knowledge for the World, will give a talk, "125 Years Compressed into One," at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 18, in Shriver Hall on The Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles Street in Baltimore.

Warren's lecture -- and a birthday cake -- will help kick off The Johns Hopkins University's 125th anniversary celebration. During her talk, Warren will look at some of the highlights of Hopkins' past and present, with stories about all its campuses, among them Homewood; East Baltimore; the Peabody Institute; the Applied Physics Laboratory; Washington, D.C.; Bologna, Italy and Nanjing, China.

Warren was born and raised in Annapolis, Md. For 10 years, she was curator of photographs for the Maryland State Archives. Her Hopkins anniversary book, published by the Johns Hopkins University Press, is the eighth of her series of books about Maryland that use historic photographs and oral histories.

This lecture is part of the Wednesday Noon Series presented by the Johns Hopkins University Office of Special Events, now in its 35th season of cultural programming on the Homewood campus. Admission is free. For information, call the Office of Special Events at 410-516-7157.
