The Evergreen Carriage House Concert Series presents "wind music of the world" in a performance by Amerigo Ensemble at 8 p.m., Friday, March 16, at Evergreen's Carriage House, 4545 North Charles St. in Baltimore. Featuring the music of many cultures, Amerigo's five young wind players combine traditional instruments like the flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon and native wind instruments in an effort to bring understanding among all people through the common thread of music. Members of the Amerigo Ensemble have appeared extensively throughout the United States, South America and Asia. These young artists have also played with many of the leading performing arts organizations including the Metropolitan Opera, New York Philharmonic, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Firmly committed to education, the group frequently travels to classrooms and concert halls in attempts to demystify classical music and encourage audiences to discover their own creative and musical ideas.

The Evergreen Carriage House Concert Series is sponsored by the Evergreen House Foundation in honor of its founder, Alice Warder Garrett. Mrs. Garrett, who lived at Evergreen House from 1920 to 1952, was a patron of the arts who supported a resident string quartet each spring and fall from 1928 to 1942. The quartets performed for the many guests the Garretts invited to their homes at Evergreen and in Italy.

Admission to the concert is $15 per person and includes a reception after the performance to meet the artists. Evergreen Fellows, Contributors and Patrons are admitted free with one guest. To make reservations or more information, call 410-516-0341.
