News Release
Talk at Hopkins Michael Olesker, popular WJZ-TV commentator and columnist for The Sun, will give a talk, 'Journeys to the Heart of Baltimore' at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 24, in Shriver Hall on The Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles Street in Baltimore. This talk is based on Olesker's Johns Hopkins University Press book, which will be available for sale and signing. His talk will take the audience on a journey to the rollicking, sentimental, good-natured, and chaotic Baltimore melting pot. Stories come from neighborhood street corners and front stoops, playgrounds and school rooms, churches and synagogues, and families gathered around late-night kitchen tables. Michael Olesker has been a metro columnist for The Sun for more than two decades. Before that, he wrote for The News American. The author of three books, including Baltimore--If You Live Here, You're Home, also available from Johns Hopkins, Olesker has been a nightly feature on WJZ-TV's Eyewitness News since 1983. This lecture is part of the Wednesday Noon Series presented by The Johns Hopkins University Office of Special Events, now in its 36th season of cultural programming on the Homewood campus. This event is cosponsored with The Johns Hopkins University Press and admission is free. For further information, call the Office of Special Events at 410- 516-7157.
