Theatre Hopkins' production of George Bernard Shaw's classic comedy Pygmalion will open on Friday, April 19, at the Merrick Barn on Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore.

Like My Fair Lady, the musical that is closely based on Shaw's satire, Pygmalion focuses on the clash between the ultimate male chauvinist and the remarkable young woman whom he unwittingly liberates. Although the issues of proper speech and class barriers may seem to belong to another time, the savage wit of Henry Higgins, the satiric eloquence of Doolittle, and the courage of Eliza never cease to touch and amuse.

The cast includes Harry B. Turner as Henry Higgins, Gina Braden as Eliza, J. R. Lyston as Alfred Doolittle and Nona Porter as Mrs. Higgins. Also featured in the cast are Elizabeth Boskey, Donald Hart, Anne Helms Irons, Michael Leicht, Bruce Levy, Dyana Neal and Irene Patton.

Curtain time for Friday and Saturday performances is 8 p.m.; Sunday matinees begin at 2:15 p.m. Tickets at the door are $12 on Friday evenings, and $15 on Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Student rush tickets for $5 are available at curtain time for all performances. The production will run weekends through Sunday, May 19.
