Hopkins Doctors to Talk about "Healing Heartburn"

Lawrence J. Cheskin and Brian E. Lacy of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center's Division of Digestive Diseases will provide advice for heartburn sufferers during their lecture "Healing Heartburn" at noon on Wednesday, March 6, in Shriver Hall on The Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore.

Based on the Johns Hopkins University Press book Healing Heartburn, by Cheskin and Lacy, the lecture will focus on the most common gastrointestinal disorder in the United States. The doctors will present a step-by-step approach to treatment, evaluate the effectiveness of medications, explain how to avoid complications, and describe special considerations for pregnant women and for children. Copies of their book will be available for sale and signing.

Cheskin is the director of the Division of Gastroenterology at The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He is also an associate professor of gastroenterology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and an associate professor of International Health (Human Nutrition) at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Lacy is assistant professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and an attending physician in gastroenterology at The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

This lecture is part of the Wednesday Noon Series presented by The Johns Hopkins University Office of Special Events, now in its 36th season of cultural programming on the Homewood campus, and is co-sponsored by The Johns Hopkins University Press. Wednesday Noon Series events are open to the public and admission is free. For information, call the Office of Special Events at 410-516-7157.
