The Johns Hopkins chapter of the service fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon will be doing something silly this weekend for a serious cause: They'll be shaving their heads in exchange for donations to support the Prostate Cancer Foundation. People can either pay per swipe or pay to shave a frat brother's whole head. Last year, SigEp, whose members live by the motto "virtue, diligence and brotherly love," used the same stunt to raise more than $3,200 to support research for Crohn's disease. The fraternity chose to support prostate cancer research this year after learning that a SigEp brother's father is undergoing chemotherapy this spring to treat prostate cancer.
This event would provide some great hair-raising footage for this weekend's news broadcasts. To cover this event, contact Amy Lunday at 443-287-9960. To reach the SigEp brothers during the event, contact Christopher Viemeister at 516-287- 4557.
