Ushering in Spring at Homewood House MuseumThe Federal Period country house of Charles Carroll Jr., built in 1801, will be dressed with spring flower arrangements and season housekeeping changes - just as the Carrolls would have decorated in the early 1800s. Tours will be held Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 3 p.m. Admission is $5; $4 for senior citizens; and $2.50 for children. Also, on Saturday, April 9, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Homewood House will host a special family program - "Flowers and Plants" - with events catering to children. Learn the role plants and flowers had on food and medicine 200 years ago, create your own plant from seed and make an everlasting flower from paper. A mini-tour of the mansion, crafts and refreshments will be offered. Registration is $5 for "Flowers and Plants." For information, call (410) 516-5589. Homewood House Museum is a registered National Historic Landmark that has been said to rank with Thomas Jefferson's Monticello as one of the best domestic buildings from the Federal Period.
