Quilt Voices at Hopkins
The performance is part of the Wednesday Noon Series, presented by the university's Office of Special Events. All programs in the series are held at noon in the Garrett Room of the Milton S. Eisenhower Library on the university's Homewood campus at 3400 N. Charles Street in Baltimore. Admission is free.
Written by Emmy-winning scriptwriter Helen Jean Burn, theater professor at Towson State University, the performance uses actual words from the diaries and letters of 1840s and 1850s women found in the Maryland Historical Society's manuscript collection. These words speak beautifully and effectively about the lives of middle-class Baltimore women of that era, Burn said.
Quilt Voices is directed by Richard Pilcher, who serves on the faculty at the Baltimore School for the Arts. The actors are freelance performers from the Baltimore area.
