Italian Chorus to Perform at Hopkins

Coro Stelutis, a chorus from Bologna, Italy, will perform in concert at the Johns Hopkins University on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 8 p.m. The a cappella performance, presented by the university's Office of Special Events, will be held in Shriver Hall Auditorium on the Homewood campus at 3400 N. Charles Street in Baltimore.

The choir, founded in 1954 under the guidance of Giorgio Vacchi, will perform songs closely approximating the popular sounds of the 19th century. By collecting and transcribing more than 2,000 melodies, Vacchi has assured the survival of musical material nearing extinction. The singers bring an unparalleled energy and enthusiasm to these Italian folk songs.

Coro Stelutis' fourth American tour is sponsored in part by the Italian government. Admission is $5 for general admission and is free to full-time Johns Hopkins University students. Additional information is available at (410) 516-7157.
