Piffaro to Perform at Evergreen House

The Evergreen Carriage House Concert Series presents Piffaro, The Renaissance Band at 8 p.m. on Friday, February 26, in Evergreen's Carriage House, located at 4545 North Charles Street in Baltimore.

Piffaro specializes in the rich and varied repertoire of the medieval, Renaissance and early baroque periods using combinations of early wind and stringed instruments. Modeled after the official civic, chapel and court bands from the 14th into the early 17th centuries, Piffaro also plays the instruments and music of rustic life and peasantry. Their instruments, including lutes, krumhorns, and hurdy gurdies, are careful reconstructions after originals from the period.

The Evergreen Carriage House Concert Series is sponsored by the Evergreen House Foundation in honor of its founder, Alice Warder Garrett. Garrett, who lived at Evergreen House from 1920 to 1952, was a patron of the arts who sponsored a string quartet in residence each spring and fall from 1928 to 1942.

Admission to the concert is $10 per person and includes a reception after the performance to meet the artists. For reservations or more information, please call (410) 516-0341.
