Homewood: An Aromatic Spring
Explore the traditional, culinary, medicinal and decorative
uses of herbs through
our herbal workshops and house tour during Homewood: An
Aromatic Spring,
May 5th and 12th, featuring two workshops and a tour of Homewood
House decorated
with herbs for spring. On May 5, from noon - 1 p.m., Homewood
will present
Herbaculture - Herbs and Medicine, featuring Theresa
Mueller, owner of "Touch
the Earth" in Canton. Mueller will present a hands-on lecture on
the medicinal uses of
aromatherapy both past and present. A selection of products will
be available. Bring a
bag lunch; herbal tea will be provided. The workshop will be held
in the Garrett Room
of the Milton S. Eisenhower Library, on the Homewood campus of
The Johns Hopkins
University.
On May 12, Homewood will present The Herbal World of
Cosmetics. Noted
aromatherapist Lou Luchsinger, will discuss the historical and
contemporary uses of
aromatic plants for cosmetics and the art of growing herbs at
home. Participants will be
able to touch and smell plants and potions and learn of their
uses. A selection of
products will be available. Bring a bag lunch; herbal tea will be
provided. The workshop
also will be held in the Garrett Room of the Eisenhower Library.
Admission for the workshops is free for members, JHU faculty,
staff and students and $6
per person for guests. For more information and to make
