The following appointments in fund raising have been announced by the Johns Hopkins Institutions: Karina D. Anderson, who has been associate director for constituency programs at the Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine since March 2000, has been named director of development for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. A 1992 graduate of Case Western Reserve University, Anderson was associate director of development for the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve prior to joining Johns Hopkins. Joyce R. Ritchie, previously director of development at the Peabody Institute, has been promoted to associate dean for development and alumni relations. With 22 years' experience in positions as diverse as executive director of National Public Radio's documentary series SOUNDPRINT, concert coordinator at Washington University in St. Louis, and public relations assistant to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Ritchie also has been a professional French horn player and teacher and is a non-fiction writer. She holds bachelor's degrees from Indiana University in both ethnomusicology, in 1974, and music education, in 1978, and has studied management at the Johns Hopkins School of Professional Studies in Business and Education. Michael Westfall has been named director of annual giving at the Johns Hopkins University. Prior to coming to Johns Hopkins, he worked in annual giving at Georgetown University and Michigan State, and most recently at Virginia Tech, where he was director of annual giving. Westfall won a 2001 Award of Excellence for educational fund-raising Projects in Region III of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. He earned his B.A. in 1990 from Indiana University.
