Re: Panel to address "summer slide" learning loss

Reading is Fundamental (RIF) and The Johns Hopkins University Center for Summer Learning will co-host a media forum on Monday, May 12, to discuss the dramatic learning losses many children experience each summer. Led by Ray Suarez, senior correspondent, The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, panelists will focus on which kids are most at- risk during the summer break, current interventions to keep them from being left behind, and a roadmap for future initiatives to keep kids off the summer slide.

Panelists: Carol H. Rasco, Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) president and CEO;
Ron Fairchild, executive director, The Johns Hopkins University Center for Summer Learning;
Karl Alexander, John Dewey Professor of Sociology at The Johns Hopkins University;
