Alternate-powered Vehicles: The Wave of the Future

What, exactly, are alternate-powered vehicles? And are they viable forms of transportation?

Explore these questions during a special program sponsored by the Johns Hopkins University Society of Engineering Alumni. On Saturday, Sept. 16, the University's Montgomery County Center near Rockville will host "Alternate-Powered Vehicles: The Wave of the Future." From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., several organizations will make presentations, including Potomac Electric and Power Co., the Electric Vehicle Association of Greater Washington, D.C., the Electric Transportation Coalition, and the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.

Participants will have the chance to test-drive alternate- powered prototypes on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is free, but pre-registration (by Sept. 11) is necessary. To register, call (410) 516- 8723, fax (410) 516-8627, or e-mail jlehr@wse.ece.jhu.edu.
