Cutright Named Communications Director for
Johns Hopkins Center for Social Organization of Schools

Marc Cutright, formerly director of university relations at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, has been named communications director for the Johns Hopkins University's Center for Social Organization of Schools. He began his new position in August.

In his new position, Cutright is responsible for the dissemination of CSOS education research findings to researchers, policy makers, educators and the general public. A primary goal will be to distribute information about the Center for Research on the Education of Students Placed at Risk (CRESPAR) and its mission to conduct research and program development leading to the transformation of K-12 schooling for at-risk students. CRESPAR is a partnership of The Johns Hopkins University and Howard University, and is funded by the U.S. Office of Educational Research and Improvement.

Cutright brings to Johns Hopkins 20 years of experience in college and university public relations -- at the University of Tennessee, North Georgia College, and Northwestern University School of Law. He is a 1974 graduate of Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Mo. He earned a master of education degree from North Georgia College in 1988 and a doctorate in education from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 1999. He was also a Fulbright Scholar to Canada in 1996.

The Center for Social Organization of Schools (CSOS) was established as an educational research and development center at The Johns Hopkins University in 1966. For more than 30 years, the center has maintained a staff of full-time sociologists, psychologists, social psychologists and other educational researchers who conduct research and development activities to improve the nation's education system. CSOS also provides full-time program development, training and support staff engaged in developing curricula and technical assistance to help schools use the center's research.
