Statement on the Death of Del. Howard "Pete" Rawlings

From William R. Brody, president of The Johns Hopkins University:

"Johns Hopkins will miss Pete's vision, his leadership and his commitment to education, higher education and quality healthcare for all Maryland citizens. And I personally will greatly miss his perspective, his advice and his counsel. Pete always told you the straight story, whether or not it was what you wanted to hear. His focus on what was best for Baltimore and Maryland was unrelenting; his wisdom was remarkable; his soul was as humane and generous as you will ever find."

"We were honored that Pete came to Johns Hopkins in June to receive the university's President's Medal. It was a special moment with a very special man."
