News Release
Johns Hopkins Senior Leaders William R. Brody, president of The Johns Hopkins University: "Our best information is that the tapes have been destroyed. Nevertheless, we are concerned that there was ever even a possibility that the information on them was out of authorized hands. On behalf of Johns Hopkins, I apologize to all affected employees and patients. We will review our processes and procedures and make any appropriate changes in an effort to ensure that this does not happen again." Ronald R. Peterson, president of The Johns Hopkins Hospital: "The best evidence is that the tapes were destroyed, although we understand that the situation may be troubling to our patients. We regret that this has caused them any concern."
