Jessica and Maggie.

Today we are simply to watch the osteologists at work. Jessica and Maggie are recording the small child’s skeleton in Square East 11 and are making a drawing of the body to be digitized. We have yet to have the total station on-site and so are producing such a drawing in the old fashioned way.

The baulk between East 9 and 12 is being removed

A view of squares East 12, 9, and 11 gives some general context to the area of this “cemetery”. The baulk between East 9 and 12 is being removed in order to reach the burial beneath the cloth seen in the foreground of the overview and the next shot. Violaine and Jessica watch the work to remove the baulk and discuss the appearance of the soil just above the main deposit. Yet a bone has appeared at this point and had to be removed before work could proceed. Check back tomorrow for more.
