Douglas M. Green, associate dean for research at the Whiting School of Engineering, has been named the new dean of the College of Engineering at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Green will assume his new post on July 1.

The Rev. Robert A. Wild, S.J., president of Marquette, said, "I am very pleased to make this appointment. Douglas Green has amply demonstrated his ability to think strategically, to manage a complex organization, to develop strong relationships with industry and to foster excellence in teaching and research--abilities that will help our College of Engineering grow still stronger."

Green, a native of Big Spring, Texas, has been associate dean for research at Hopkins since 1993. Earlier, he was professor of electrical engineering, associate dean for research and external affairs, and director of the Center for Research in Engineering and Advanced Technology at the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science of the State University of New York at Binghamton. He serves on the board of directors of the American Society of Engineering Education and is chair of its engineering research council. Green is also the president of Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society.
