LeBoff Professorship Dedicated at SOM

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

With gifts totaling more than $2 million, the late George LeBoff of Baltimore funded a new professorship in gastroenterology. Mark Donowitz, an authority on digestive diseases and director of the Hopkins Center for Epithelial Disorders, was named to the LeBoff Professorship at dedication ceremonies on Nov. 19.

LeBoff, an official with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, who died in 1997, was a longtime supporter of the Division of Gastroenterology.

"Mr. LeBoff has created a legacy that will benefit generations to come," said Edward Benz Jr., chairman of the Department of Medicine. "The endowment will provide a distinguished faculty member with the resources necessary to pursue research into effective treatments and cures for digestive diseases."
