Successful alumni to offer career advice to
students
Beginning next month, groups of successful alumni will
return to Homewood to share with undergraduates their experiences
in the working world. Leaders in the fields of health care,
business, communications, law and government, the alumni will
participate in panel discussions through which students will get
an inside look at fields they may be considering.
This annual Career Symposium is organized by the
Second Decade Society, a leadership
development organization for the Zanvyl Krieger
School of Arts and Sciences; the
Office of Career Planning and
Development; and undergraduates. The symposium has been held
for six years, and organizers say it gets bigger every year,
sometimes drawing hundreds of students for each session.
Generally, five to six alumni participate on each panel.
The first session, on Feb. 2, will focus on health care. On
Feb. 8, the topic will be fincancial areas of business, followed
on Feb. 9 by entrepreneurship. This sessions will be from 5 to
6:30 p.m. in the AMR multipurpose room.
On Feb. 16, the panel will be comprised of alumni in
communications; on Feb. 23, members of the legal profession; and
on March 2, alumni who work in government. These groups will meet
from 5 to 6:30 in the Garrett Room in the MSE Library.
