Open Houses -- Sponsored by the Hopkins Graduate Division of Education, open houses are scheduled for March in Columbia and Montgomery County. Johns Hopkins offers graduate degree and certificate programs to meet the needs of aspiring and experienced educators and counselors. The open houses will showcase these programs. Faculty, advisers and financial aid officers will be available to answer questions.
Thurs., March 18, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Student Funding Programs -- Two programs are available through the Alumni Association. The Community Service Grant Program was established to support valuable volunteer experiences for Hopkins students and to foster positive relationships between the university and its surrounding communities. The program supports students who create their own volunteer community service projects or design their own ventures within existing volunteer organizations. Past projects have included Teach Baltimore and Hands to the Homeless. The Student Services Funding Program promotes the student experience at Johns Hopkins by providing funding to student groups or programs and by supporting campus events, activities and programs that benefit and involve students from all university divisions. Both programs are open to undergraduate and graduate students from all divisions of the university. Applications are available at divisional alumni relations offices, the Homewood Office of Volunteer Services in Levering Hall or at the Steinwald Alumni House, 3211 N. Charles St. Applications for summer and fall 1999 funding are due April 15. For more information and for applications, call Rebecca Barnes in the Office of Alumni Relations at 410-516-0363.
Continuing Medical Education -- The Office of Continuing Medical Education is offering a series of courses designed to help busy professionals manage time and stress, develop good work habits, utilize software to organize their schedules and plan for results. The classes continue through May in the Turner Building at JHMI.
Tues., March 30 and Wed., March 31, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lax Tix -- Tickets for the Blue Jays' 1999 lacrosse season are now available. To receive two complimentary season passes, faculty and staff members should bring a valid university I.D. to the main office in the Athletic Center between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
