First Graduate

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

IN CELEBRATION OF BEING THE FIRST GRADUATE of the School of Nursing's doctoral program, Karin Coyne dons a sash made by her fellow doctoral students. On March 11, Coyne, who will receive her degree in May, defended her dissertation, "Gender Differences in Health-Related Quality of Life Post Myocardial Infarction." She is a senior research scientist with the Cardiovascular Research Institute at the George Washington University Medical Center. The goal of the School of Nursing's relatively young doctoral program is to prepare nurse scholars to conduct research that advances the theoretical foundation of nursing practice and health care delivery.
