Weinberg Building dedicated
One gentle tug on myriads of streamers and the confetti showered
the crowd at Oct. 25's much-anticipated dedication of Johns
Hopkins Medicine's new $125 million home for its comprehensive
clinical cancer services.
A decade in the planning, the
half-million-square-foot Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Building is
the largest structure on the JHMI campus and one designed from
the ground up to meet the complex and exacting specifications of
cancer specialists and those they treat.
CultureFest '99: 'Global City,
Students at the Homewood campus will show off their cultural
colors during CultureFest '99, a weeklong celebration of
diversity and culture that begins on Friday. The event will
showcase some of the music, cuisine, dance and customs of the
many campus cultural groups.
Since 1987, CultureFest has been an annual
celebration that promotes understanding and appreciation of the
different cultures that make up the Homewood campus. Its theme
this year is "Global City, U.S.A.," which student chairs Reni
John and HanNa Kim say they hope will examine the emergence of a
multiethnic and globally diverse American society.
