Women in Science Poster Session -- The Johns Hopkins University Society for Women in Science is sponsoring the first annual undergraduate summer research poster session on Thursday, Oct. 14, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Glass Pavilion on the Homewood campus. Faculty and staff can support undergraduate research by attending this session. Students interested in peer research are also encouraged to participate. Flu Vaccines -- Flu vaccines will be offered free of charge to faculty and staff of the Homewood campus during the week of Oct. 25 in the Great Hall. For more information, call Occupational Health Services at 410-516-0450. The schedule is as follows:

Monday, Oct. 25, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 26, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 27, 7 to 10 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 28, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 29, 9 a.m. to noon
Flu vaccines will also be offered at the East Baltimore campus. Call 410-955-6211 for times and location.

Occupational Health Services is also offering, in conjunction with Benefits Administration, seated massages. Faculty and staff will receive a 15-minute seated massage from a certified massage therapist for a reasonable fee. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 410-516-0450.


WORKlife Programs -- Percilla Lynch will host a four-part workshop on parenting young children and teens, on Tuesdays, Oct. 5 and 12 and continuing through Nov. 2 and 9. All workshops will run from noon to 1 p.m. and will be held in Conference Room C in Garland Hall.

WORKlife Programs is also offering pre-retirement planning workshops for individuals in the middle stages of retirement planning, who have 10 to 25 years until retirement. A workshop is planned for the Homewood campus for Thursday, Oct. 7. An East Baltimore workshop is scheduled for Oct. 19.

Career Option Workshop -- The Counseling and Student Development Center is hosting an interactive workshop for students interested in exploring various career options. The workshop assists students by helping them clarify their interests, strengths, skills and work values. The group will meet on three consecutive Thursdays, Oct. 7, 14 and 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. For more information, contact Barbara Bear or Beth Beil at the Counseling Center, 410-516-8278.


New Web site -- The Center for a Livable Future has a new Web site located at www.jhsph.edu/environment/. The site includes information about the center's projects, a calendar of events at Hopkins and highlights of faculty research projects, as well as links to Web sites related to the goals of the Center for a Livable Future. Comments and suggestions on improvements are welcome.
