New Forum Will Look at Health Issues in Iran

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

A new group called the Johns Hopkins Iranian Health Forum has been formed for all those interested in health in Iran. The aims of the forum, based at the School of Public Health, include the study of health and health care in Iran; the encouragement of collaborative endeavors between health professionals both within and outside Iran; the progressive development of a body of expertise on Iranian health issues; the periodic convening of meetings and conferences where such issues may be discussed; and the moderation of an electronic discussion forum on the subject of health in Iran.

The first general meeting will be held in W2033 School of Public Health today, Oct. 11, from noon to 1 p.m.

In addition, the Iranian Health Forum will launch on Wednesday, Oct. 20, a lecture series titled "Public Health and Medicine in Iran" with a lecture/discussion by Larry Moulton, associate professor of international health and biostatistics. Moulton recently traveled to Iran as a consultant to the World Health Organization and will be sharing experiences and slides of his travels as well as giving a glimpse into his family's historical connections with medical education in Iran. The talk will be held in the Anna Baetjer Room from noon to 1 p.m.
