Spring Fair 2000 Hits Homewood

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

The annual transformation of the Homewood campus into a food- and entertainment-filled carnival has become a Baltimore tradition, bringing out not just students but Charles Village neighbors and other fun-lovers from all over the city.

This year, it even brought out the mayor, Martin O'Malley, whose musical group, O'Malley's March, entertained the crowds on Saturday afternoon from the outdoor stage in front of Shriver Hall.

As always, student groups upped the ante on traditional carnival fare, bringing into the mix such international favorites as hand-rolled sushi and cool, smooth mango lassi.

The event took place April 14 to 16.

A sea of tents fills the lower quad.

Getting the word to the neighborhood.

Yujin Kim and Warren Chang show off their winnings.

Shinya Suzuki, Keisuke Hinami and Janice Wat prepare sushi.

Big swingers.

Uncle Sam was there, too.
