Candidates Wanted -- The National Student Leadership Conference on Medicine and Health Care seeks motivated, energetic college- and graduate-level students with knowledge of and interest in medicine, nursing, health care or related sciences to serve as teaching assistants/team advisers for gifted and talented high school students attending leadership conferences.

Responsibilities include assisting in academic portions of the program; supervising students on visits to prominent health care facilities, research institutions and landmarks in Washington, D.C.; and serving as dormitory residence advisers.

Candidates may apply for one or more sessions (six days plus training). Programs run from July through the first week of August. The salary paid to candidates is competitive.

Cooley Center Activities -- The Denton Cooley Center at JHMI is offering the following sports activities this spring:

In-line skating clinics, Tuesday, April 25, or Thursday, April 27, at 5:30 p.m. $8 ($13 with skate rental); add $5 for nonmembers.

Golf tournament, May 10, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Carroll Park golf course; $19 includes greens fee, cart and prizes. Field limited to eight foursomes.

The center also offers daily aerobic classes at 12:05 and 5:30 p.m. Classes include step, hi/low, body sculpting and kickbox aerobics. Unlimited classes are included in gold membership at $16 per pay period or $30 per eight-week session with regular membership.

Polishing Public Speaking Skills -- The Johns Hopkins Toastmasters is a group that prepares individuals for formal and extemporaneous speeches. The group meets on the first Monday and third Tuesday of the month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Toastmasters is open to anyone in the Hopkins community; however, participation is limited to members who have paid a small amount in dues (to cover the cost of materials).

Seated Massage -- The Department of Occupational Health Services is offering therapeutic massage. For a reasonable fee, Hopkins faculty and staff can receive a 15-minute seated massage from a certified massage therapist. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 410-516-0450.
