Secretary Of State Albright Speaks This Week At SAIS

U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will give the annual Rostov Lecture on International Affairs at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m.

Admittance to the lecture, which is at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 18, in the Nitze Building, is by invitation only. Established in 1990, the Rostov Lecture on International Affairs honors the memory of Hopkins alumnus and businessman Charles Rostov.

Prior to becoming secretary of state in January 1997, Albright served as the U.S. permanent representative to the United Nations and as a member of President Clinton's Cabinet and National Security Council. Throughout her distinguished career, she has held numerous international affairs positions in government and academia.

Awarded her bachelor's degree in political science from Wellesley College, Albright studied at SAIS, received a certificate from the Russian Institute at Columbia and her master's and doctoral degrees from Columbia's Department of Public Law and Government.

Following her lecture, Albright will respond to questions from the SAIS community.
