Host Family Program -- The Baltimore Chapter of the Alumni Association invites you to participate in the Hopkins Host Family Program, now in its 10th year.

The program is designed to improve the quality of life for new students at Johns Hopkins University. Faculty, staff and alumni have an opportunity to provide hospitality to new students of all academic divisions.

Hospice Volunteer Opportunities -- Johns Hopkins Home Hospice is a nonprofit home hospice program serving patients in the Baltimore metropolitan area. The hospice, which provides support to patients and families during the end stages of a terminal illness, is seeking volunteers to work in a variety of capacities.

Volunteers are needed for direct patient service, bereavement care and administrative/office support; training is provided.

Cancer Survivors Day -- The Johns Hopkins Oncology Center is hosting a Cancer Survivors Day Conference and Celebration, in conjunction with National Cancer Survivors Day. The event will take place Sat., June 3, from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Pinkard Building, 525 N. Wolfe St. All cancer survivors and their friends and families are invited to attend this event.

The conference will showcase special exhibitors and resources, as well as educational workshops. The Oncology Center's staff are also welcome to attend or to volunteer.

Recruiting Volunteer English Teachers -- The International Society of the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions is currently recruiting volunteer English as a Second Language teachers for the fall semester.

The program provides a semester of weekly two-hour sessions to international faculty, house staff, students and family members from the medical institutions. Classes are held in both East Baltimore and the Homewood area. Training is provided.

Health Care Leadership Conference -- The National Student Leadership Conference on Medicine and Health Care is looking for motivated, energetic college and graduate students with knowledge and interest in medicine, nursing, health care or related sciences to serve as teaching assistants or team advisers for gifted and talented high school students attending leadership conferences.

Responsibilities include assisting in academic portions of programs; supervising students on visits to prominent health care facilities, research institutions and to Washington D.C. landmarks; and serving as residence hall advisers.

Swing Dance Club -- Sessions of the Friday Night Swing Dance Club group dance classes in swing, Latin and West Coast swing will begin on the Hopkins campus on Tues., May 30, and continue through Tues., June 27. Cost is $75 per couple or $40 per person for each one-hour five-week course, $80 per person or $155 per person for the two-hour course. Individual sessions may also be taken at $20 per class.
