Family Center Formally Opens

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

Edward D. Miller, CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine and dean of the medical faculty, takes time out for a game of patty-cake with 3-year-old Farah Alkayed at the recent grand opening of the Johns Hopkins Family Center. Holding her is her mother, Eiman Jafar, a senior research program coordinator at the School of Nursing.

The 18,000-square-foot child care facility, located just south of the East Baltimore campus in the former Church Home Medical Office Building, welcomed its first children in August.

The center, which is available to all Hopkins employees, accommodates 156 children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. There is currently space available at the center, which is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. To arrange a tour, call 410-614-4111.
