Blood Donors Needed This Week

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

Mark Van Doren and Beverly Wendland are among several biology professors who regularly support the Homewood campus American Red Cross Blood Drives by reminding their students to give blood if they are eligible. The professors themselves also donate on a regular basis.

The next Homewood campus blood drive takes place this week, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, and Thursday, Nov. 29, in the Glass Pavilion. To make an appointment, go to www.jhu.edu/~outreach/blooddrive or call 410-516-0138.

Please note that the Red Cross has tightened European and United Kingdom travel restrictions to help prevent "mad cow" disease from entering the United States. Anyone who has spent a cumulative total of three months in the United Kingdom, or six months in any combination of eastern or western European countries, the United Kingdom, or Oman, is temporarily restricted from giving blood. If you have questions about these or other eligibility issues, contact the American Red Cross at 1-800-GIVE-LIFE.
