JHU employees who take summer courses receive 100 percent tuition remission. Children and spouses receive 50 percent tuition remission. (For information on tuition remission, call 410-516-6810.) Among those classes that may be of particular interest to faculty and staff and their families are the following: Photography. Classes will be held in the Mattin Center during each of the two terms: May 28 to June 28, Monday and Wednesday from 3 to 5:30 p.m., and July 1 to August 2, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. The first term's introductory course covers the basics of camera operation and gives students an opportunity to work on a chosen project. The second term offers a darkroom course concentrating on developing and printing black and white film. Students will produce a portfolio of 10 mounted photographs. Both courses require a 35mm camera with adjustable aperture and shutter speed. Class size is limited. German language classes. German Elements is being offered during both sessions: May 28 to June 28 and July 1 to Aug. 2, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m. Intensive German for Business Purposes will be held May 28 to June 28, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Online courses. This year's expanded offerings include Stars and the Universe, Bioinformatics: Computers in Molecular Biology, and Communication, Culture and the Digital Age. The three-credit college courses are open to undergraduate as well as talented high school students.
