Sick, Emergency and Backup Care Sale -- From Sept. 15 through Nov. 15, the university will increase the subsidy for individuals using the Sick, Emergency and Backup Care program provided through Parents in a Pinch. This program provides care at a reduced cost for dependents--child or older adult--of benefit-eligible faculty and staff. Employees can review the policies and print a registration form by visiting the Worklife Programs Web site at www.hopkinsworklife.org and going to the Adult/Elder Dependent Care Services or the Child Care Services link. Parents must be registered before using the program. For information, call 410-997-6605.

Help in Planning Meetings -- Conference Services at Homewood will assist Johns Hopkins departments and offices in planning their meetings. The service is an economical and reliable way to handle the logistics and eliminate the worries and hassles of creating a program. For more information, call Toni Decker at 410-516-3962 or e-mail tdecker@hd.jhu.edu.

Johns Hopkins Tutorial Project -- The Johns Hopkins Tutorial Project is still accepting applications from children for its fall session. The Tutorial Project is an afterschool tutoring program that provides one-on-one tutoring free of charge for children in grades 1 through 5. Families must be residents of Baltimore City. The tutoring takes place Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on the Homewood campus. Bus transportation is available for a limited number of children. Applications for the fall session must be received by Friday, Sept. 13. For more information or an application, call 410-516-7673.

Recipients of Blood Donations Sought -- Have you or a family member ever received a blood donation? The Homewood campus blood drive coordinator is seeking Hopkins faculty, staff, students and retirees who would be willing to share their stories in order to encourage eligible colleagues to give blood. If you have a story you would like to share, please contact Caterina Provost-Smith at 410-516-0138.

Photography Program for Inner City Youth -- Kids@Cameras, a photography program for inner city youth operated out of the Community Relations and Volunteer Services Office at Homewood, is looking for volunteers, photography instructors and used photographic equipment of all kinds. To learn more, call Matthew D'Agostino at 410-516-4777 or e-mail to dag@jhu.edu.

Mentors Needed -- The Take Charge! Youth Violence Prevention Project needs mentors to keep children safe and free from injury through mentoring and community resource linkages. Each mentor will be trained in a violence prevention curriculum and will meet with each youth at least six times. A stipend of $240 will be given to each mentor upon completion of the project. Male mentors are especially needed. For more information, call Peggy Miller at 410-614-6415.
