Oldies Dance Raises Close to $1,000

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

When the campus offices closed for the evening on Friday, May 3, the Glass Pavilion at Homewood began to rock and roll, as staff members and friends gathered to raise fun and funds at an Oldies But Goodies Dance for United Way of Central Maryland. The event featured an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner, door prizes and a wacky DJ playing a mix of dance tunes that spanned the decades.

In addition to ticket sales, a 50/50 lottery and a raffle wheel helped to raise nearly $1,000 for the more than 200 regional health and human service agencies funded by United Way. Several trays of food were also donated to Marian House, a United Way agency that provides residential, counseling, educational and employment services to homeless women and their children.

Judy Peregoff, director of the Office of Faculty, Staff and Retiree Programs, spins the raffle wheel.
