Homewood's O'Connor Recreation Center Sets Membership Fees

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

The Ralph S. O'Connor Recreation Center has set a membership fee structure for those other than Homewood students who wish to use the facility. In its first months of operation, admission had been free as appropriate fees were being determined.

As of Sept. 3, the cost of membership, which is good for one calendar year, is $60 for Homewood staff and faculty, students from other Hopkins campuses and the spouses of each group. The fee is $240 for non-Homewood JHU staff and faculty and for university alumni; spouses of these members pay $120.

Membership forms are available in the recreation center's main office, which is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. Payment options are cash, check and semimonthly payroll deduction (Homewood staff and faculty only). Those with a J-Card must bring it with them when signing up so the card can be activated. All others will receive a validation sticker to gain admittance to the building.

The 63,000-square-foot center, which opened earlier this year, includes a weight room, fitness center, 30-foot climbing wall, locker rooms, racquetball/squash courts and an 18,000-square-foot gymnasium.
