Nominations Sought for First Recipients of Diversity Recognition Awards

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

To recognize outstanding accomplishments of faculty, staff and students whose demonstrable efforts foster greater appreciation, advancement and celebration of diversity and inclusiveness in the Johns Hopkins culture and environment, the Johns Hopkins Diversity Leadership Council has established Diversity Recognition Awards. Nominations are now being sought for the first recipients.

All faculty, staff and students at Johns Hopkins University and the Johns Hopkins Health System, except current members of the Diversity Leadership Council, are eligible to participate. Individuals may self nominate or be nominated by any Johns Hopkins community member. Nominees should be notified of the nomination.

The nomination should include the form available online at www.jhu.edu/~dlc and a support statement, not to exceed two pages double-spaced. The latter should describe how the individual meets the criteria for the award and include specific examples of how the nominee's efforts and accomplishments conveyed an appreciation for diversity, inclusion or multiculturalism and adds to Johns Hopkins' efforts to promote and advance a more supportive environment for all members of the Hopkins community.

Nominations should be submitted electronically to: nbever12@jhuadig.admin.jhu.edu or in writing to Diversity Recognition Awards, Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Programs, N-710 Wyman Building, 3400 N. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21218. The deadline for all nominations is April 16.

The selection panel, comprised of Diversity Leadership Council members, will review all nominations and recommend recipients to the president of the university. Awards will be announced in May with a Diversity Awards Reception on May 6.
