SPH's CCP Sponsors Photoshare Photo Contest

A moving photo of a young boy in a Guinean refugee camp won Best of Show at the first Photoshare Photo Contest sponsored by the INFO project of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health / Center for Communication Programs. Nell Kussian of the American Refugee Committee submitted the photograph.

INFO, which stands for Information and Knowledge for Optimal Health, is a reproductive-health knowledge-sharing resource supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development. Its Photoshare is a unique resource for nonprofits to use photos in communicating health and development issues. INFO's archive, available exclusively for educational and nonprofit purposes, contains thousands of photos that capture urban and rural life in developing countries as well as global efforts to improve health and save lives.

The photo contest, open to both amateurs and professionals, drew 300 submissions shot in 30 countries. To see the winning entries, go to www.jhuccp.org/pressroom/2003/10-10.shtml.
