Name Change: Geriatrics Facility Is Now the Johns
Hopkins Bayview Care Center
Last week the Geriatrics Center at Johns Hopkins
Bayview Medical Center became the Johns Hopkins Bayview
Care Center.
The new name reflects a broad range of services that
has expanded beyond the program's nursing home roots,
according to officials making the announcement Oct. 14.
More accurately described as "continuing care" services,
the center's offerings include ventilator rehabilitation,
inpatient rehabilitation, specialized wound care, long-term
care, geriatrics medicine and sub-acute and transitional
care.
"Many of these services are a bridge between hospital
and home, with a strong focus on improving patients' health
and well-being and returning them to their own
environments," said Anita Langford, Hopkins Bayview's vice
president of continuing care. "For other patients, the Care
Center continues to provide traditional long-term care in a
warm, homelike environment."
The center is located in the John R. Burton Pavilion.
The name change does not affect the university's Division
of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology, which also is
located in the John R. Burton Pavilion.
