A day of special events on Sept. 30 celebrated the
opening of the newest building on the university's
Montgomery
County Campus.
County executive Doug Duncan joined Provost Steven
Knapp for a ribbon cutting that officially opened the
campus's third building, a 115,000-square-foot facility
that provides opportunities for collaboration among Johns
Hopkins, federal research labs and the private sector.
Also representing Johns Hopkins at the noon
festivities were Andrew Douglas, WSE associate dean for
academic affairs; Ralph Fessler, dean of SPSBE; Edyth
Schoenrich, director of part-time professional programs in
the School of Public Health; Elaine Amir, campus director;
Gary Ostrander, associate provost for research; and John
Bader, KSAS assistant dean for academic affairs.
In the afternoon, the campus hosted an open house for
Montgomery County educators. Called "Bridges to Bioscience
and Beyond," the event gave middle- and high-school science
teachers the chance to learn about JHU programs, tour the
wet lab and attend presentations by local biotech
companies.
