Community Outreach Project

On Sat., Oct. 23, JHU volunteers will assist Civic Works with its second annual Ricky Myers Day of Service. The event commemorates a former staff member of Civic Works and the organization's mission by engaging hundreds of volunteers on 10 service projects throughout Baltimore City.

Volunteers are needed for team-based efforts such as transforming abandoned lots into landscaped parks and gardens and neighborhood cleanups.

To join in the activities, contact Matt Smith in the Office of Faculty, Staff and Retiree Programs at 410-516-0345 or e-mail matthewsmith@jhu.edu.

The celebration will begin at 3 p.m. in the Mountcastle Auditorium where a series of speakers, including Nobel Prize winner Peter Agre, will kick off the festivities. A reception will follow in the West Reading Room of the library.
