Community-based Research Firm Signs Lease for Montgomery County Campus' Building III

CBH Research, a community-based, private sector clinical research organization, has signed a 12-year lease for 18,414 square feet in Building III at the university's Montgomery County Campus. CBH was established to promote clinical research as an important part of the approach toward understanding and treating mental illness.

The company will be the second tenant in Building III, a 115,000-square-foot facility that will provide opportunities for collaboration among the university, federal research labs and the private sector.

Approximately half the L-shaped structure will be devoted to academics, while the remaining space will be available for lease to scientific and technology-related companies that wish to partner or co-locate with the university.

Building III is scheduled to open in August and kicks off the next buildout phase for the campus. The master plan includes expansion to seven buildings over the next 10 years, for a total of 700,000 square feet of academic and research space.

"CBH Research LLC exemplifies the type of research-based organizations we want to bring to the Montgomery County Campus," said Gary Ostrander, associate provost for research.

"Locating here will enable CBH to access the resources of Johns Hopkins, and continue to advance their research into central nervous system disorders," he said.
