English as a Second Language Open
House
Advanced Academic
Programs offers English as a Second Language courses to
help professionals and graduate students sharpen their oral
and written communication skills. These courses are
designed for students who have intermediate knowledge of
English and need to increase their effectiveness at work
and school or in social settings.

Animal Care and Use Committee
The ACUC is now offering American Association for
Laboratory Animal Science certification training to all
technical staff who work with laboratory animals. To

Last Call for Applicants
The Institute for Policy Studies is
accepting applications for its fall classes in the
Certificate in Nonprofit Studies Program.
This part-time program is designed to develop and
enhance the knowledge and practical skills needed by
nonprofit staff and volunteers to run a successful
organization. Students who complete the program may apply
their Certificate in Nonprofit Studies to a JHU MBA with a
Nonprofit Concentration, and students in the School of
Professional Studies in Business and Education may earn
credit for certificate courses. Classes begin in September.

Research Coordinator Training Program
This course provides a comprehensive overview of the core
competencies needed to administer and direct human subject
research projects. Topics include IRB, recruiting, data
management, informed consent, study administration and
event reporting. Two sessions will be held this fall: 8:30
to 10 a.m. weekly on Tuesdays, Sept. 7 through Nov. 16; and
8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20, to Friday, Oct.
