Library Books Return and Renew

Users of the Sheridan Libraries are asked to review their library accounts and return any items that are no longer needed.

To view borrower information and renew materials for the next academic year, go to catalog.library.jhu.edu and click on Borrower Info/Book Renewals. The MSEL Circulation staff, circmail@jhu.edu or 410-516-8370, can answer any questions.

 

Health Awareness Day

Healthy, educational activities for faculty and staff are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, in Homewood's Glass Pavilion. Activities will include hearing, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, seated massage, body fat analysis and more. The event is sponsored by the Office of Benefits Administration in conjunction with Occupational Health Services.

 

Certificate in Nonprofit Studies

The Institute for Policy Studies is now accepting applications for fall classes in the Certificate in Nonprofit Studies Program.

This part-time program is designed to develop and enhance the knowledge and practical skills needed by staff and volunteers to run a successful nonprofit organization.

Help Improve the Future of a High School Student

JHU's Discovering Careers Summer Youth Employment Program provides an excellent opportunity for faculty and staff to mentor Baltimore City high school students. In this six-week program, supervisors can provide a youth with the opportunity to acquire or practice workplace know-how, as well as motivation to meet academic expectations, earn a high school diploma and enter meaningful employment or further schooling. Students are paid by the Mayor's Office of Employment Development.

The students have been preselected from participants in the year-round FUTURES program at six Baltimore City high schools. Discovering Careers at JHU is part of the Office of Employment Development's YouthWorks summer employment program; jobs cannot be provided to other students through this program.

The employment period runs from July 13 through Aug. 20, a change from previously published dates. Orientation for supervisors and students will be held on Friday, July 9.

Departments interested in one or more student employees should submit the online Summer Youth Employee Requisition Form posted at www.jhu.edu/hr/fsrp/disc_car.html.
