SAIS Center Magazine Picks 20 People to Watch in
Transatlantic Relations in 2005
What do actor Johnny Depp; Deputy Secretary of State
Bob Zoellick; Yuliya Tymoshenko, the new prime minister of
Ukraine; and Dirk Nowitzki, the Dallas Mavericks basketball
star, have in common? Transatlantic: Europe, America &
the World, published by the
Center for Transatlantic Relations at
SAIS, has
named them as part of an eclectic group of individuals who
will make a difference in transatlantic relations in
2005.
In addition, the magazine, which has just celebrated
its first year of publication, interviews Peter Sutherland,
chairman of British Petroleum and Goldman Sachs
International, to find out his views on the world economy
and business on both sides of the Atlantic today.
John Bruton, former Irish prime minister and new
European Union ambassador to the United States, speaks out
on European-American relations, and Jan Eliasson, Swedish
ambassador to the United States and future president of the
U.N. General Assembly, talks about needed U.N. reforms and
how the United States and U.N. need to work more closely
together.
Other topics include what a Tony Blair victory in next
month's British election would mean for British foreign
policy and how Paul Wolfowitz will make a difference at the
World Bank.
