Music


As part of its 40th anniversary celebration, Shriver Hall Concert Series inaugurates this week a new community offering called Shriver at the BMA, a free concert that's expected to be annual. Leading off the series is 2005 ensemble-in-residence Eighth Blackbird, a dynamic young contemporary group known for its innovative programming. Although this will be the ensemble's only public performance in Baltimore, it will be working with students at Peabody and the University of Baltimore and in city schools, including the Baltimore School for the Arts.

Fri., Oct. 7, 8 p.m. Evergreen Concert Series presents a performance by the Chris Norman Ensemble (Chris Norman, flute and small pipes; bassist James Blachly; Andy Thurston, guitar and mandola). $15 general admission. Evergreen Carriage House.
